When you did the last problems, you probably noticed that they're pretty simple.

The log of 10^a = a.

The log of (10^a x 10^b) = log 10^{a + b} = a+b.

That is, the log of (10^a x 10^b) ends up being

the log 10^a PLUS the log of 10^b!

No tedious multiplying with logarithms -- you just get to add them.
