Serial Dilution | ||
|
This is just the reverse of calculating a dilution. Suppose you started with a stock culture and you diluted it 1:2 x 105. Then you plated it out, and found that the diluted culture contained 100 cells/mL. How many cells were in the stock culture? 1 mL of the stock culture = 2 x 105 mL of the working culture 1 mL of the working culture = 100 cells so: 1 mL of the stock culture = 2 x 105 mL of the working culture x (100 cells/mL working culture ) = 2 x 107 cells/mL stock culture |
