In animals with blood vessels, the nephron's filter is pushed up against capillaries so the plasma in the capillaries can filter through capillary walls and across the nephron's side of the filter into the urine.

The capillaries that let plasma leak into the nephron are called the GLOMERULAR CAPILLARIES or GLOMERULUS.

In humans, the glomerulus is like a round ball of capillaries and the nephron's filter is expanded and wrapped around it. This expanded filter is called Bowman's capsule or the Renal corpuscle.
