Animals that live on land have a special structure added in the middle of each nephron -- the Loop of Henle or nephronic loop. The Loop of Henle divides the convoluted tubule in half, so we now can identify two parts of it; the proximal convoluted tubule is closer to the beginning of the nephron, and the distal convoluted tubule is farther away from the beginning of the nephron. After it goes through the distal convoluted tubule, the urine is collected in the collecting duct and sent out to the bladder. |
