So logarithms are pretty easy to work with when you're dealing with powers of ten. In fact, all they really are is another way to use scientific notation. But what about numbers that aren't powers of ten? What about 6, for example? How would you find the logarithm of 6? You know that 6 is between 1 and 10: That is, it's between 100 and 101, so its logarithm must be between 0 and 1. Most people just look it up in a log table; you can find one by clicking on the link to the left.
